About This Archive

The Chosen Women Interactive Memory Archive is a living digital tribute to one of the most significant interdenominational evangelical women's movements of the late twentieth century. Between 1997 and 1999, four stadium-scale gatherings were held across California and Oklahoma — events that drew tens of thousands of women of faith together under the banner of 1 Peter 2:9: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God."

This archive exists to ensure that those gatherings are never forgotten. It is a place where historical records — speaker lineups, press coverage, archival programs, and video footage — are preserved alongside the personal testimonies of the women who attended. Every photograph contributed, every memory shared, and every name recorded here becomes a permanent part of the story.

This archive is built first and foremost for the women who attended the Chosen Women events — those who travelled to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in 1997, to Fresno and Irvine in 1998 and 1999, and to Oklahoma City in 1999. For them, this is a space to revisit a formative season of faith, to see names and faces they may have forgotten, and to add their own voice to the permanent record.

It is also for researchers, historians, and students of the modern evangelical women's ministry movement — particularly those studying the legacy of NEWIM (the Network of Evangelical Women in Ministry) and the broader stadium revival tradition of the 1990s. And it is for younger generations who never had the chance to be in that stadium, but who are shaped by the women who were.

This archive was created by a community of people who were personally touched by the Chosen Women movement and who believe its story deserves to be told faithfully and beautifully. It is maintained by volunteers committed to the legacy of Susan "Susie" Kimes — founder of NEWIM and the visionary behind the Women of Honor stadium events — and the broader network of women's ministry leaders who made these gatherings possible.

The archive is not affiliated with any single denomination or institution. It is an independent, community-driven project dedicated solely to preserving and celebrating this chapter of church history. If you have materials, photographs, videos, or stories to contribute, we welcome you warmly.
